Location: Canton, MI, USA  

Yazaki is looking for an Assistant Purchasing Program Manager to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI.  This person assists the Purchasing Program Manager with activities within assigned OEM program(s) from pre-award through launch adhering to GPMS (Global Process Management System) compliance. They are the co-liaison between the Customer Business Unit, Purchasing, Engineering & manufacturing location for purchasing related events including sourcing, contract & supplier readiness. They support in managing and coordinating the key events to help ensure a flawless launch, achieving total enterprise costs & program launch. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization.  This position is hybrid.

What you will be doing:

  • Assists Purchasing Program Managers with key responsibilities including GPMS Purchasing Task Compliance
  • Supports PPM to ensure timely sourcing of Purchased parts identified on BoM to support program MRDs & pre-builds
  • Extract reports to support project reporting including ASL, Power BI, ERP & Price Reports
  • Supports identifying cost savings opportunities aligning with Category Purchasing, PM & Engineering to achieve Program targets aligned with BU.
  • Performs Capacity verification of supplier components in support of Purchasing Program Managers
  • Tracks capacity verifications being worked on by program
  • Creates ERQ's for new programs (connector configs & sub-assemblies)
  • AP Project Overview lead which includes reporting, updating and ensuring accurate data is maintained
  • Assists AP Management with department reports and KPI's
  • Support overall compliance of all roles & responsibilities aligned with Purchasing & Advanced Purchasing standards and procedures

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Purchasing and/or Program Management related experience
  • Knowledge of Program Management tools, pricing and systems
  • Ability to work in complex project organization and to understand Purchasing and Program goals and tasks in global & local perspective
  • Understanding of automotive market (2nd tier suppliers, OEMs, etc.)
