Market America a Global Product Brokerage and Internet Marketing company that specializes in One-to-One Marketing, is seeking a Director of Purchasing for our Purchasing – Supply Chain team.

The Director of Purchasing will manage the overall operations of the Purchasing Department to ensure that inventory and goals are met in a timely and effective manner. Directs and supervises any lead and managerial staff.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Develops and manages purchasing and sourcing strategies and procedures to ensure proper levels at all locations, domestic and international, for continuous supply of goods and high inventory turns.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements forecasting processes and systems to meet company goals and reduce costs.
  • Monitors potential inventory issues (backorders, expirations, etc.) with lead for informing Product Managers.
  • Directs employee workload and provides training and resolution to ensure optimal productivity for strategic departmental goals.
  • Identifies proper sourcing for new products and related components.
  • Directs, supports and maintains domestic and international supplier relationships to ensure effective business relationships.
  • Oversees the day-to-day inventory requirements of facility, capital outlay expenditures, and employee equipment and supplies.
  • Drives purchasing initiatives for product lines to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Identifies, evaluates and develops purchasing policies and procedures to ensure best practices.
  • Prepares budget items and ensures compliance to approved budget.
  • Supervises and supports a diverse work force
  • Sets goals and performance expectations for the team
  • Addresses employee or customer concerns and/or elevates to the Management team
  • Trains and assists employees
  • Manages employees work loads and schedules
  • Works within budgetary controls

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in corporate purchasing in consumer products industry
  • Demonstrated experience in progressive supervisory roles
  • Must have advanced knowledge of inventory control and supply chain management
