Job description

Job Title: Purchasing Supervisor

Department: Purchasing Department

Supervisor: Senior Purchasing Manager

Location: Battleboro location

Pay Type: Salaried

Hiring Range: DOQ

8- Hour Shift, Monday – Friday

Position Summary

The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for supporting daily purchasing operations, coordinating supplier and internal team communication, maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory records, and providing direct supervision to assigned purchasing team members. This position helps ensure company needs for equipment, goods, and services are met in a timely and cost-effective manner while assisting the Senior Purchasing Manager with department processes, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement efforts.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Purchasing. Supervises and supports the purchase order process, monitors inventory levels, and maintains purchasing records to ensure company needs for equipment, goods, and services are satisfied. Performs vendor research and assists with supplier selection to support profitability, reduce operating costs, and improve efficiency. Helps establish and improve purchasing systems and processes. Assists the Senior Purchasing Manager in the daily operation of the department.

Supervises Procurement Team. Directly supervises Purchasing Assistant and Purchasing Clerk. Provides daily direction to the team to focus activities and resources to meet business objectives. Reviews team and individual performance and addresses issues when necessary. Trains and coaches team members to ensure execution standards are met and quality standards are not compromised.

Accounts Payable. Supports invoice processing into the company system for payment. Works closely with Accounts Payable to help ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices and proper resolution of invoice discrepancies.

Logistics. Tracks incoming goods to ensure they meet delivery timing requirements. Coordinates delivery and receiving schedules for containers to help avoid additional charges. Works closely with warehouse locations to control sub-contractor charges and resolve delivery or receiving issues.

Teamwork and Collaboration. Actively engages in team meetings and provides timely feedback to team members regarding work topics. Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across the department. Understands available resources and utilizes those resources when appropriate.

Leadership. Acts with integrity. Treats others with dignity and respect. Models behavior that is consistent with LS Tractor’s Values. Delivers on commitments and deadlines.

Communication. Effectively communicates with team members. Demonstrates sound oral and written communication skills. Communicates effectively and professionally to both internal and external parties. Executes effective customer communication and relationship building techniques.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience Required

• Four-year degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or related field is highly preferred.

• A minimum of three years of purchasing, procurement, logistics, supply chain, or related experience is required.

• Prior experience in the agriculture or construction equipment industry is highly preferred.

• One to two years of lead, supervisory, or team coordination experience is preferred.

• Accounting or accounts payable experience is highly desired, but not required.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required

• Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing, vendor relationship management, inventory control, accounts payable, and supply chain processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize daily activities to meet department needs.

• Above average computer skills, highly proficient in the use of Excel. SAP experience is highly desired, but not required.

• Demonstrated ability to make decisions and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and provide daily direction to team members.
