Job Summary
Premier Marine is a leading pontoon boat builder located in Big Lake, Minnesota. We've built a world class team and are looking for self-motivated individuals who understand the value of a strong work ethic, teamwork, and integrity in the workplace.
Premier Marine is seeking an energetic Purchasing Manager to join our team. As the Purchasing Manager, you will oversee the daily purchasing and procurement activities that support Premier Marine's manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, maintaining availability, and supporting cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
The Purchasing Manager will work closely with production, engineering, planning, and finance teams to ensure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules while driving continuous improvement within purchasing processes and supplier performance.
Management Responsibilities
• Supervise and support purchasing team members and daily department activities.
• Assist in training, coaching, and developing purchasing team employees.
• Help maintain strong communication and alignment between purchasing, production, engineering, and planning teams.
• Support a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including purchase orders, supplier communication, and material follow-up.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning and production teams to ensure material availability.
• Work with suppliers to address shortages, delays, quality concerns, and delivery issues.
• Support strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist with supplier negotiations related to pricing, lead times, and service expectations.
• Coordinate with engineering on new product launches, product changes, and material transitions.
• Utilize EPICOR (ERP) systems to support purchasing, material planning, and inventory accuracy.
• Monitor supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure purchasing processes are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
• Minimum of 3 + years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Understanding of purchasing processes, supplier management, inventory control, and material planning.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficiency in MRP/ERP system (EPICOR preferred).
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business management, operations, or related field required.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
