Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Global Payroll Implementation Country Lead in Netherlands.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of complex global payroll implementation projects in a fast-paced international environment. In this role, you will act as the country-level expert, leading payroll transitions from initial planning through successful go-live while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and operational excellence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver seamless payroll solutions for international clients. The position offers a highly autonomous and flexible work environment where innovation, process improvement, and asynchronous collaboration are deeply embedded in daily operations. This role is ideal for someone analytical, proactive, and passionate about improving payroll systems and driving impactful results on a global scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead end-to-end payroll implementation projects, ensuring successful execution from project kickoff through parallel runs and transition to payroll operations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for country-specific payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings including sales discussions, onboarding calls, and implementation planning sessions.
  • Develop and manage detailed implementation timelines, project plans, and standardized payroll procedures.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of implementation decisions, processes, and operating procedures for operational continuity.
  • Collaborate closely with payroll operations, implementation specialists, and internal product teams to improve workflows and platform functionality.
  • Support process optimization initiatives, KPI tracking, SLA adherence, and continuous operational improvements.
  • Mentor and guide payroll generalists working alongside implementation projects.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, testing activities, and documentation of platform updates and process changes.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in payroll processing within a client-facing or international payroll environment.
  • Strong expertise in payroll legislation and compliance requirements within the relevant country or region.
  • Proven experience leading payroll implementation projects from planning to go-live.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems and tools such as SAP, DATEV, Excel, or Google Sheets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex payroll scenarios.
  • Experience in payroll accounting, reconciliations, and operational controls.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain payroll processes clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, globally distributed, and asynchronous work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, increase efficiency, and drive operational excellence.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Previous remote work experience is considered a plus.
