Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years.  More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff. Under the authorization of the Maternal Medical Director and OB-Perinatal Director, assumes responsibility for the ongoing development, growth, operations, and oversight authority of the Maternal Program. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the interdependent roles of various allied health professionals. The Maternal Program Manager will assist with the development of policies, protocols, practice guidelines, participating in performance improvement monitoring, and staff education to perform acute clinical care to the OB/ GYN. Assists in promoting optimal care to the pregnant and immediately postpartum patient through clinical activities, professional and public education, injury prevention, and quality improvement and patient safety. The Program Manager acts as a resource person to all patient care areas regarding nursing care as related to the pregnant and immediately postpartum patient. Functions as a liaison for maternal care by maintaining effective lines of communication with all concerned parties. The Maternal Program Manager in conjunction with Maternal Medical Director is responsible for overall management of the maternal program. The Maternal Program Manager will actively participate in the development of regionalized maternal care system.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
 
1. Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
2. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
3. BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
4. ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current
5. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current
6. Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire
7. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred
8. STABLE certificate preferred
9. Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline or master's degree.
