Purpose:

The Learning Designer is responsible for translating approved learning solution strategies into detailed, instructionally sound designs and high-quality learning assets that support business and learner outcomes. Reporting to the Lead Architect, this role takes solution blueprints and design direction and turns them into structured learner experiences through detailed instructional design, content development, content curation, assessment design, and iterative refinement across a range of modalities.

Working within the Learning Solutions team, the Learning Designer applies instructional design expertise to build engaging, effective, and practical learning products aligned to defined objectives, audience needs, and delivery requirements. This role partners closely with the Lead Architect, Digital Experience Designer, business-facing colleagues, subject matter experts, and other contributors to ensure learning solutions are instructionally strong, development-ready, and aligned to intended outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate solution architecture and design direction into detailed instructional designs, including storyboards, scripts, learning flows, activity designs, assessments, facilitator guides, and content specifications that enable effective development and delivery
  • Develop, adapt, and curate learning content across multiple modalities - including digital, virtual, instructor-led, and blended formats - ensuring materials are instructionally sound, learner-centered, and aligned to approved solution intent
  • Collaborate with the Lead Architect, Digital Experience Designer, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners to refine content, validate design assumptions, incorporate feedback, and ensure learning materials are accurate, relevant, and fit for purpose
  • Apply established instructional design standards, templates, and quality expectations throughout the development process, ensuring outputs reflect sound learning practice, consistency, accessibility, and alignment to the approved learning approach
  • Contribute to learning measurement and continuous improvement by incorporating evaluation elements into designs, supporting review of learner feedback and performance data, and identifying opportunities to strengthen learning effectiveness over time
  • Support updates and revisions to existing learning products in response to business changes, stakeholder feedback, content reviews, or evolving capability needs
  • Contribute to internal design operations by maintaining templates, design documentation, asset organization, and other materials that support efficient and consistent delivery
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, or contractors as needed in the development or revision of learning materials
  • Participate in team knowledge sharing, design reviews, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen instructional quality and ways of working across Learning Solutions

Qualifications

Education:

  • BA/BS Required; Advanced Degree Desirable

Required:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience is required. Agency, Consulting, and/or Life Sciences experience is preferred.
  • Strong grounding in instructional design principles and adult learning practices, with the ability to apply them in the creation of effective, engaging, and well-structured learning experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to translate high-level design direction into detailed learning assets, including storyboards, scripts, activities, assessments, facilitator materials, and learner-facing content
  • Ability to create knowledge checks, performance-based activities, practice opportunities, and reinforcement mechanisms aligned to learning objectives
  • Ability to identify, assess, adapt, and integrate existing content and third-party resources into learning solutions in ways that maintain relevance, quality, and instructional coherence
  • Ability to work from solution blueprints, business requirements, and design standards to produce detailed outputs that align with intended learning objectives and overall solution architecture
  • Attention to detail and ability to apply templates, standards, and review feedback to ensure learning products are accurate, polished, accessible, and aligned to quality expectations
  • Familiarity with learning assessment and evaluation concepts, with the ability to embed measurement components into designs and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Ability to work effectively with Learning Architects, subject matter experts, business partners, and peers to gather input, incorporate feedback, and move design work forward productively
  • Proficiency with common learning design and development tools, including authoring platforms, collaboration tools, and AI-assisted design resources used to support efficient content creation and revision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain design choices, synthesize feedback, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Openness to evolving tools, methods, and priorities, with a willingness to test new approaches and improve design outputs based on evidence, feedback, and changing business needs
