Job description

THE POSITION:

Under general direction from the General Manager, plans, organizes, and directs the maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of the Districtโ€™s sewer collection system and related facilities. This is an โ€œat willโ€ management classification; the incumbent serves at the pleasure of the District and his/her employment can be terminated at any time, with or without cause or advance notice.


EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES:

Plan, develop, and implement a preventive maintenance program for the collection system; develop, audit, and update the Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) and act as legally responsible official (LO) for certifying SSO reports; assist with budget preparation; supervise employees, evaluate their performance, and impose discipline; manage insurance claims related to the collection system; and perform other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying.

Five years of experience in the maintenance of a sewer collection system, including at least two years of supervisory or lead experience; and, equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized training in maintenance or operations. Computer skills highly desirable.


LICENSE, CERTIFICATION & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid California driverโ€™s license and a motor vehicle record that meets the Districtโ€™s driving standards; and, possession of, or ability to obtain within two years of appointment, a CWEA Grade IV Certificate in Collection System Maintenance.
