Role: Human Development Intern

Mission: The Human Development Intern will provide tactical Human Development (HD) solutions and support for HD functional areas and plant operations.   The primary functions of this role will include "hands-on" administration of policies and program goals, support to the labor relations specialists, responsiveness to employee inquiries, compliance, training & development, and employee satisfaction strategy support.  This role requires frequent interactions with employees at all levels.

Position Responsibilities

Support the plant HD team in all pillars of HD support (LAS, HDBP, TMO, L&D, TA) as needed and direct by Plant HDBP

Support FMLA, medical, and contract leave programs:

Administer FMLA and related documentation as needed

Perform leave audits to help with FMLA management

Maintain and distribute, as appropriate:

Current employee information (personnel files)

Policy and procedure manuals

KPI and other tracking reports 

Staffing updates

Support LAS (labor affairs specialists) during discipline meetings and help track corrective action status

Conduct employee and related new hire training as needed

Manage, track, and analyze data and reports related to trend hiring, termination, and turnover

Promptly address all internal customer inquiries

Provide general answers to employee benefits and staffing questions, refer to subject matter experts as necessary

Support the Employee Engagement Strategy by supporting action plan implementation with initiatives including employee event support, recognition program support, dialogue forum support (communication meetings, focus groups, coffee talks, etc.) and other actions as needed by the HDBP of Culture and Engagement

Support HD function with applicable HD system administration and support necessary in the plant (HD kiosk, MyHD system, timecard, and payroll system)

Support purchasing by auditing invoices, entering requisitions, and selecting quotations

Support the Metalsa Model and the company's beliefs and values at all times

Additional responsibilities as required - this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change.

Education and Experience 

Enrolled in or recently graduated from HR related courses (associate's degree or certifications preferred)

1 year of work experience  

Ability to adjust the schedule as needed to support operational coverage - Required

Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment   

Willing to facilitate meetings and present training to small and large groups 

Willing to deal with and resolve conflict effectively

Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams)

Learn and apply state and government regulations, laws, etc. 

Learn and apply EEO as well as Affirmative Action Programs, HIPPA, FLSA, NLRB, and DOL standards
