Job Summary:

IPG Photonics' Automation Group is a team of engineers and programmers dedicated to automation of various manufacturing tasks. Several on-going projects include design, production, installation and support of test and measurement systems, computer-controlled manufacturing tools and assembly stations for optical components and lasers. Motion components (including robotic arms), machine vision systems, dispensing systems, DAQ and industrial control equipment, typically controlled by LabVIEW or C# custom applications, are among the building blocks used in the group.

Job Functions:

Depending on their interest, background and skills, Intern will be involved in one or several of the following activities:

  • Design and assembly of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies for automated production tools
  • Installation of hardware/equipment/driver/controller for R&D and production stations
  • Development and optimization of manufacturing steps in an assembly procedure
  • Development of data processing algorithms for internal and customer products
  • Software design for process control, DAQ and logging applications
