What is an EHR Implementation job?

An EHR Implementation job involves managing the deployment of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in healthcare settings. Professionals in this role work with healthcare staff to ensure a smooth transition, including system customization, data migration, user training, and troubleshooting. They collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and medical personnel to optimize workflows and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Strong project management, technical expertise, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the common challenges faced in an EHR Implementation role, and how are they typically addressed?

EHR Implementation professionals often encounter challenges such as resistance to change among clinical staff, integrating new systems with existing workflows, and ensuring data accuracy during the migration process. To address these obstacles, they collaborate closely with end-users, provide thorough training, and maintain clear lines of communication throughout the project. Working as part of a cross-functional team—including IT, clinicians, and administrative staff—enables effective troubleshooting and problem resolution. Adaptability and a proactive approach are essential for navigating these challenges and ensuring a smooth rollout of the new electronic health record system.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ehr Implementation position, and why are they important?

To thrive in EHR Implementation, you need a solid understanding of healthcare workflows, IT systems, and project management, often supported by a degree in health informatics, information technology, or a healthcare-related field. Familiarity with major EHR platforms (such as Epic, Cerner, or MEDITECH), knowledge of HL7/FHIR protocols, and certifications like CPHIMS or PMP are highly advantageous. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills help drive user adoption and facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. These abilities are crucial for successfully guiding healthcare organizations through complex technology transitions while minimizing disruptions to patient care.

We're looking for an EHR Implementation Engineer who knows the hospital and clinic ecosystem from the inside. You've worked with Epic — ideally from the provider side — and you understand what it takes to onboard complex healthcare data integrations end-to-end. You're equally comfortable on a customer call and deep in a SQL query, and you take genuine ownership of getting implementations right.

Responsibilities:

• Lead technical onboarding of new hospital and clinic customers onto the TailorMed platform

• Work hands-on with Epic and other EHR systems to configure data feeds, integrations, and workflows

• Manage data ingestion pipelines — investigate errors, resolve data quality issues, and ensure clean delivery

• Partner with customer technical analysts and IT teams throughout the full implementation lifecycle

• Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable communication for non-technical stakeholders

• Become a subject matter expert in TailorMed's platform and the US healthcare data ecosystem

Requirements:

• Epic experience is required — hands-on work with Epic in a hospital, health system, or clinic setting

• 3–5 years in a technical healthcare IT role — implementation, integration, clinical informatics, or similar

• Strong SQL skills — you write queries to investigate, validate, and troubleshoot data

• Experience with healthcare data standards: HL7, FHIR, datat extract triggers and clinical data Workflow Optimization.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple implementations in parallel

• Clear communicator — confident with customers and capable of explaining technical risk simply

NICE TO HAVE :

• Epic certification (Epic Willow or Epic Beacon)

• Experience with other EHR platforms: Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts

• Familiarity with revenue cycle, medication management, or financial assistance workflows

• Experience with ETL tools, data visualization, or AI-assisted workflows

What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary + equity
  • Premium medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, a wide range of voluntary and supplemental benefits, and 24/7 benefits access and support - all effective from your first day of work
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% employer match
  • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave
  • Six weeks of paid parental leave
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • New MacBook, plus all of the equipment and technology you’ll need to be successful in your role

TailorMed anticipates the base salary for this position to be $70,000–$110,000 depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, and education. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this position in New York at the time of posting.
