Search Solution Group is seeking a Contract Payroll Manager on behalf of our client, a marketing communications and merchandising agency.

The Contract Payroll Manager will oversee and manage payroll operations for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires strong expertise in payroll administration for hourly employees, payroll tax compliance, and payroll systems management. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with experience handling complex payroll environments and a proven ability to navigate high-volume payroll processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-state hourly employee populations.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer payroll tax calculations, withholdings, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Review and validate employee hours, overtime calculations, deductions, and wage adjustments.
  • Process employee status changes, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation updates.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and tax-related issues.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy within payroll systems.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure payroll integrity and compliance.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll-related records and reports.
  • Monitor payroll controls and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements affecting payroll operations.

Requirements Include

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent payroll experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll administration experience.
  • Experience managing multi-state payroll for hourly employees required.
  • Strong payroll tax compliance experience required.
  • Experience processing high-volume payrolls.
  • Experience working within fast-paced, dynamic business environments.
  • Experience with Canadian and/or Puerto Rican payroll processes is a plus.

Skills
