Assistant Controller
CTL Aerospace is a full service NADCAP certified composite-manufacturing company providing services to the major aerospace and governmental organizations since 1946. CTL specializes in the manufacturing of Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures. We are located conveniently in northern Cincinnati, Ohio location (less than 30 minutes from Dayton and/or northern Kentucky).
We're seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial data, maintaining compliance with GAAP, and supporting operational efficiency within a manufacturing environment. The Assistant Controller will also assist with cost accounting, inventory management, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Job Description
  • Assist in managing daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Partner with operations to analyze production costs, labor efficiencies, and material usage.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Support external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting and reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Plex, SAP, Oracle, or similar). Plex preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Detail oriented and sound decision-making skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Must speak English
