Assistant to the President
Job Description
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Assistant to the President will provide executive-level assistance to the President by ensuring efficiency, organization, and preparedness for the President's Office.
Accountability:
This is a full-time (12-month) position that reports to the Chief of Staff.
General Statement of Duties:
The Assistant to the President has the responsibility of providing executive-level assistance to the President. The incumbent is required to ensure the effective and efficient flow of information and activities that come through the President's Office.
Essential Job Functions:• Arrange meetings
• Ensuring that the President is well prepared and alerted to all appointments
• Maintaining the President's memberships
• Coordinating and managing events, news, and volunteer projects
• Planning travel arrangements to include transportation, lodging, dining, and registration
• Preparing itineraries and other related documents
• Handling special assignments and confidential correspondences
• Serving as the official recorder of Executive Cabinet minutes
• Responding to daily internal and external emails
• Performs other duties as delegated by the Chief of Staff and/or President
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Administrative Assistant with the filing process
• Answer the telephones and takes messages in the absence of the Administrative Assistant
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Required Qualifications
Proficient use of computers and appropriate software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to effectively perform multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent interpersonal skills; conflict resolution skills; the ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels; knowledge of the policies and best practices of higher education; and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in business or related field. Experience in higher education administration is desired.
