Job description

Our client, an established and growing company located by Spaghetti Junction off of Hwy 85, has recently acquired a small subsidiary clothing business. They are looking for a Senior Accountant to serve as the sole day-to-day accounting resource for this newly acquired business, reporting directly to the Controller at the parent company. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants full ownership of a business's books, with the backing and mentorship of an experienced Controller.
What You'll Do

  • Own full-cycle accounting for the business — AP, AR, payroll support, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
  • Manage inventory accounting and cost of goods sold, including landed cost components (freight, duty, customs)
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for Controller review
  • Serve as the on-the-ground finance contact for the business, exercising sound judgment and escalating issues appropriately
  • Partner with and support the Controller and parent company finance & accounting team on ad hoc tasks, analysis and process improvement

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including full-cycle ownership of a small company's books
  • Experience with inventory and COGS accounting; import/landed cost exposure a strong plus
  • Comfort operating independently as the sole accounting employee for a business unit, with the maturity to know what to escalate
  • QuickBooks experience required; Sage 50 experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills — this person will be the Controller's eyes and ears on this business
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
