About the Role

The Assistant Controller (Part-Time) supports key accounting and financial operations for AdeptAg's Corporate entity and Canadian automation operations (Bellpark, British Columbia).

This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis. Working in a fully remote environment, the Assistant Controller collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and effective communication across distributed teams while managing priorities within a part-time schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Operations
Oversee full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and adjustments
Perform general ledger reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies
Review and post payroll-related transactions
Maintain accurate and compliant financial records

Month-End and Year-End Close
Manage month-end and year-end close processes in alignment with corporate timelines
Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial reporting requirements
Support audit preparation and financial documentation as needed

Reporting and Analysis
Provide financial reporting and analysis support to the Corporate Accounting team
Assist in identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Support decision-making through accurate and timely financial insights

Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with Corporate Accounting and cross-functional teams
Communicate effectively across distributed teams and time zones
Support ongoing process improvements and standardization efforts

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
    Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience
    Experience in manufacturing or multi-entity environments considered an asset
    Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting processes required
    Experience handling high-volume financial data in a fast-paced environment

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
    Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks and/or Microsoft Great Plains preferred
    Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams
