Job description

General Overview
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Regional Controller is responsible for both the strategic and day-to-day financial leadership of 3 manufacturing plants. Key responsibilities include maintenance of accounting records, development of comprehensive controls and repeatable processes, timely production of financial statements that comply with generally accepted accounting principles, analysis of past results, and forecasting of future results. The Regional Controller works closely with peer departments including plant operations, supply chain, human resources, corporate accounting, and other site Controllers. The Controller also interacts with external stakeholders, including auditors, Fortune 500 customers, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate on the Leadership Teams and provide data-driven decision support
  • Design an organizational structure to facilitate achievement of objectives
  • Train, direct, and lead finance and accounting professionals to solve problems and achieve their full potential both as individuals and as a team
  • Drive continuous improvement in profitability at the customer, line, and SKU level through analysis of pricing relative to key cost drivers
  • Develop and maintain a high level of expertise with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software
  • Manage timely and accurate day-to-day finance and accounting activities for the multiple site, including cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and treasury
  • Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Develop and manage a system of controls over accounting transactions, including the general ledger account structure
  • Lead the monthly close process to issue complete financial statements within defined time constraints
  • Manage annual budget and forecasting processes, including monitoring of planned vs. actual spending
  • Manage and approve capital spending projects including ROI analysis
  • Manage operating cash within lender covenant requirements and in coordination with corporate accounting, including 13-week cash forecasts, accurate vendor payments, ACH/wire payment approvals, and check signing
  • Manage and lead audits, including bank audits, financial audits, and sales and use tax audits
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent business experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible finance and/or accounting management experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Strong leadership and ownership qualities, including change management, conflict resolution, organizational design, teambuilding, and delegation skills
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
