Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead core accounting operations within a high-growth SaaS/technology environment. This fully remote role is ideal for a finance leader with strong private equity (PE) exposure and demonstrated experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The Controller will partner closely with executive leadership to drive financial accuracy, scalability, and readiness for continued investment and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial close, and reporting
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Establish and enhance internal controls, policies, and scalable accounting processes
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decisions
- Support M&A lifecycle activities including due diligence, acquisition accounting, and post-close integration
- Collaborate with private equity stakeholders and deliver investor-level reporting
- Oversee external audits, tax coordination, and regulatory compliance
- Drive ERP optimization and automation initiatives
- Build, mentor, and scale the accounting team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
- Prior experience within a SaaS or technology company (required)
- Strong background in private equity-backed environments
- Hands-on M&A experience (due diligence, integration, or purchase accounting)
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with modern ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Willingness and ability to work Eastern Time Zone (EST) hours
Preferred Experience
- Experience scaling accounting functions in a startup or high-growth setting
- Expertise in SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Exposure to exit readiness (PE recap, IPO, or strategic sale)
