Bauman Landscape and Construction is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to lead our accounting operations and support the financial success of our growing company.

We are a family-owned general engineering contractor that has proudly served Northern California since 1977. Our team specializes in grading, underground utilities, concrete, demolition, and site development. We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and wants to be part of a company where their contributions truly make an impact.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Monitor project costs and support job costing for construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Coordinate with external accountants during audits and tax preparation
  • Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Support company leadership with financial reporting and analysis
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or similar role
  • Construction accounting experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with job costing
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and general accounting principles
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Spectrum, ProContractor, Sage/Vista, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • CPA is a plus but not required
