Job description

Covenant Woods is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage bi-weekly payroll and support accounting operations. This position requires strong payroll systems expertise, accuracy, and the ability to troubleshoot and improve processes in collaboration with internal teams and software vendors.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Onsite, Monday-Friday (This position does not require weekends.)
Some Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain and manage payroll and timekeeping systems
  • Review timecards, pay rates, benefits, and deductions for accuracy
  • Monitor PTO balances and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Generate payroll reports and support reconciliations and audits
  • Manage garnishments and respond to payroll-related inquiries
  • Partner with HR and leadership on payroll issues
  • Work with payroll software vendors to troubleshoot and ensure system accuracy
  • Provide support with basic banking functions and accounting entries
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed
  • Post customer payments daily in a separate software system
  • Process check and cash deposits daily
  • Create weekly/monthly reconciliations
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Several years of payroll processing experience required (healthcare or shift-based payroll preferred)
  • Strong experience with payroll systems (Paycom a plus)
  • Ability to review and validate payroll system setup and calculations
  • Experience troubleshooting system issues and working with software support teams
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Solid understanding of payroll and basic accounting principles
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
