Job description

INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST I

University of Alabama at Birmingham

This position will provide REDCap support, user assistance, database management, and workstation maintenance within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) at UAB.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • To aid in software implementation and documentation while complying with information security measures as determined by management and policy.
  • To provide support for REDCap server and various requirements of UAB product infrastructures and to help end users use various tools and technologies effectively and efficiently.
  • Consults with system users and makes software and/or hardware recommendations. Installs and/or develops customized software as required.
  • Maintenance of the department's distribution list. Provides training and documentation of new and existing software.
  • Handle REDCap user access requests and account setups.
  • Build, maintain, and manage REDCap databases.
  • Provide support for password resets, account suspensions, and troubleshooting login/access issues.
  • Manage data backups and restorations for REDCap systems.
  • Ensure timely and secure REDCap upgrades and ongoing server maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer and system-related issues for departmental staff.
  • Assist with workstation maintenance and vulnerability remediation.
  • Manage all departmental distribution list
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics    

Previous Information Technology experience is strongly preferred.

Hourly Range: $18.85-$30.65 

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
  • Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
