School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary Research Coordinator 1 to join their team!
This position will, under general direction from the principal investigator, perform professional-level support requiring scientific knowledge and skills regarding research involving human subjects for the grant titled "A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial to Support Parent-Child Relationships Among Families with Elementary School-Aged Children Referred to Child Welfare," funded by the SON Research and Intramural Funding Program. Known as "Thriving in the School Years," the study is piloting Promoting First Relationships School-Age (PFR-S), a birth to 5 evidence-based program adapted for families with older children in the Child Protective Services (CPS) system. This position will coordinate specific operations of this behavioral science research study involving a vulnerable population of human subjects. The primary purpose is to create REDCap projects, facilitate study recruitment of families, and participate in establishing coding protocol and coding videotaped parent-child interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Create REDCap projects for all aspects of the study
Serve as the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) liaison for study recruitment
Establish parent-child interaction coding protocol and scoring
Area of Duties/Tasks:
REDCap project coordination (34%)
1. Create REDCap projects for recruitment, consenting, randomization, research questionnaires (Time 1 and Time 2), PFR-S intervention monitoring, and subject contact information.
2. Establish and monitor access and security.
3. Test and troubleshoot all projects.
4. Make ongoing revisions as necessary.
5. Back up all projects and data on a monthly basis.
DCYF study recruitment coordination (33%)
1. Travel to the DCYF Lynnwood office to access and conduct work.
2. Receive confidential client lists of families potentially eligible for the study from the DCYF data manager.
3. Using Microsoft Excel, merge each client list with previously obtained lists to identify new families (and omit previously contacted families).
4. Coordinate WSIRB-approved opt-out letter mailing for all newly identified families on the list. Print letters, address and stamp envelopes, and take them to the post office for mailing.
5. Check for opt-out replies via email, text message, and phone.
6. Compile listing of all families on the current list that did not opt out of hearing about the study and send the password-protected and secure contact list to the UW study recruitment coordinator.
7. Create recruitment reports.
Parent-child interaction coordination (33%)
1. Serve on team to develop the coding scheme for the parent-child videotaped teaching interaction. Provide expertise and insight based on experience with other studies.
2. Code videotapes as time allows, or train other staff to code.
Required Qualifications

Requirements
A Bachelor's degree AND two years of experience in a research position (e.g., Research Study Assistant, Research Study Coordinator) OR equivalent education/experience.
Experience as a current or previous Washington State Children's Administration/Department of Children, Youth, & Families (DCYF) and/or Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) vetted employee or volunteer as required by our Washington State Institutional Review Board (WSIRB) approved protocol, and knowledge of confidentiality within the DCYF environment.
