Job Overview

The Bookkeeper

This position is ideal for a highly organized, self-motivated accounting professional with property management bookkeeping experience and strong proficiency in Yardi Breeze. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and committed to maintaining accurate financial records while supporting property managers, tenants, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank deposits, check processing, and vendor payments.

  • Prepare and process CAM, BOE, and NNN tenant billings and reconciliations.

  • Administer lease agreements and maintain lease-related records.

  • Prepare and post recurring and manual journal entries and maintain the general ledger.

  • Maintain rent rolls, rent schedules, ownership reports, and other property accounting records.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Complete month-end closing procedures and prepare variance analyses.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages on both cash and accrual bases.

  • Prepare business tax renewals, annual filings, quarterly reports, and other compliance-related documentation.

  • Assist with audits and coordinate with external CPAs by providing supporting documentation.

  • Utilize Yardi Breeze for accounting, reporting, and tenant management functions.

  • Maintain knowledge of partnership, LLC, trust, and corporate accounting structures.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, partner distributions, management fee calculations, and pro forma reporting.

  • Monitor loan activity, interest calculations, promissory notes, SBA loans, debt ratios, and financial institution reporting requirements.

  • Communicate with property managers, owners, vendors, and tenants regarding financial matters.

  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and compliance with deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or Certified Bookkeeper designation.

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably within commercial or residential property management.

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and bookkeeping procedures.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Yardi, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and QuickBooks.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with commercial property accounting.

  • Knowledge of CAM, NNN, and BOE reconciliations.

  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits.

  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.

Compensation: $55.00 per hour
