SVN Cornerstone is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support our commercial real estate brokerage and property management company. Candidates with commercial real estate or property management accounting experience are strongly encouraged to apply, as this role includes responsibilities unique to the commercial real estate industry. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and supporting the continued growth of our company.
This position is expected to begin on a part-time basis (25 hours per week) while learning our systems and workflows. There is potential for additional hours and full-time employment for candidates interested in expanding into additional accounting, administrative, or property management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Operations
    • ย Record and maintain accurate financial transactions using accounting software.ย 
    • ย Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment and collection.ย 
    • ย Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.ย 
    • ย Process payroll and assist with payroll tax filings.ย 
    • ย Prepare company and entity tax information and coordinate with outside accountants for annual tax preparation.ย 
    • ย Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and local, state, and federal tax regulations.ย 
  • Commercial Real Estate Accounting
    • ย Prepare and process broker commission payments utilizing Buildout software.ย 
    • ย Track advisor commissions and maintain accurate commission split records.ย 
    • ย Manage company royalty fee reporting and payments.ย 
    • ย Maintain financial records for development projects and other assigned entities.ย 
    • ย Assist with preparing CAM budgets and CAM reconciliations for managed properties.ย 
  • Financial Reporting & Planning
    • ย Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and other management reports.ย 
    • ย Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.ย 
    • ย Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation for annual audits and tax preparation.ย 
    • ย Provide accurate financial information to support business planning and strategic decision-making.ย 
  • Process Improvement & Systems
    • ย Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, increase efficiency, and streamline financial processes.ย 
    • ย Help develop, document, and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls.ย 
    • ย Assist with implementing new systems and technology to improve accuracy and scalability.ย 
    • ย Work alongside the existing bookkeeping team during the transition of responsibilities and help document institutional knowledge and processes.
    • ย Provide general administrative support to the team as needed, including office purchasing and other operational tasks.ย 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Bookkeeping Experience
  • ย Commercial real estate and/or property management accounting experience strongly preferredย 
  • A firm grasp of business concepts
  • Experience with Yardi or other accounting software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be determined, ambitious, self-motivated, and a team player
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication skills; must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
Compensation and Benefits:

  • ย $28โ€“35/hour DOEย 
  • Part-time position beginning at approximately 25 hours/week
  • Monday-Friday during normal business hours
  • Some flexibility in daily start and end times
