Job description

Work Location: Gorham, Maine

**This position is in person in Gorham, ME**

Pay: $19 - $22 D.O.E

Job Summary: 

  • Processes and records the Agency’s payroll timely and accurately. Duties include:
  • Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
  • Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  • Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
  • Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality relative to payroll
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check the meets agency standards.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with UKG or similar Payroll Systems

Essential Functions:

Communication

  • Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
  • Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal customers regardless of their areas of responsibility in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information generated or gathered.
  • Conducts Payroll training for managers.

Knowledge

  • Performs duties in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations and Goodwill’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Understands proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • Working knowledge of computerized timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Resolves Payroll problems and exceptions in timely fashion.

Administration

  • Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
  • Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.          
  • Maintains Agency payroll information in HRIS database.
  • Prepares reporting for employees, managers, vendors and tax agencies when necessary.
  • Develops ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Understanding of Goodwill NNE policies.
