Job description

Category-defining tech. Career-defining work.
The next era of software won't operate at human scale. Applications will create applications. Systems will coordinate with systems. Data and decisions will move faster than teams can react to them. The infrastructure powering that world cannot be fragile, reactive, or limited by the assumptions of the past.
Cockroach Labs exists to build what comes next - before the world requires it.
We created CockroachDB to survive failures, scale without compromise, and adapt to changing conditions automatically. Now we're helping define a future where complexity fades into the background and infrastructure simply works, no matter the scale.
This is the kind of challenge that attracts people who want to shape industries, not just participate in them. The work is ambitious, the standards are high, and the impact is real.
The Role
Cockroach Labs is hiring a Sales Development Representative with a primary focus on driving pre-event marketing engagement. This is an execution-focused, entry-level SDR role centered on generating event registrations, building awareness, and setting meetings ahead of key marketing programs and field events.
This role works closely with the Marketing and Field Events teams to ensure that priority programs - including executive dinners, regional field events, and flagship conferences like RoachFest - are well-attended and generate meaningful sales conversations. Success in this role is measured by pre-event outreach activity, meetings set, and registrations driven.
To be eligible for this role, you must be based in Austin, TX and will be expected to go into the office on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.
You Will
  • Execute high-volume, structured outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn) to drive registrations and attendance for priority marketing programs, including executive dinners, customer advisory boards, RoachFest, and regional field events.
  • Coordinate pre-event meeting setting with target prospects.
  • Work from event-specific target lists provided by Marketing to ensure full coverage of priority accounts ahead of each program.
  • Follow established outreach sequences and messaging playbooks for each event type.
  • Track outreach activity, responses, and registration confirmations in Salesforce and Outreach.
  • Share registration status and engagement updates with the Marketing and Events team as requested.
  • Share outreach activity summaries and engagement updates with SDR leadership after each event cycle.
  • Communicate registration confirmations and attendance updates to the Marketing and Events team as requested.
  • Adhere to established SDR team workflows and processes for event-driven outreach and follow-up.
The Expectations
First 30 Days
  • Ramp on CockroachDB positioning, SDR workflows, and core tools (Salesforce, Outreach, ZoomInfo).
  • Learn the event calendar and review pre-event outreach playbooks with SDR leadership.
  • Begin executing outreach against active event target lists under close supervision.

First 60 Days
  • Independently manage pre-event outreach sequences for at least one active marketing program.
  • Meet activity targets for outreach volume, registrations driven, and pre-event meetings set.
  • Log all activity and outcomes in Salesforce consistently and accurately.

First 90 Days
  • Consistently hit pre-event meeting and registration targets across multiple programs.
  • Execute post-event follow-up sequences independently and route qualified conversations to AEs.
  • Demonstrate strong discipline in activity tracking, outreach execution, and cross-team communication.
You Have
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in sales development, lead generation, or demand generation support.
  • Technical Stack: Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce, Outreach, Nooks, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work cross-functionally with Marketing, SDR leadership, and Sales.
  • Analytical Mindset: Interest in marketing signals, campaign performance, and conversion metrics.
  • Education: BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with marketing operations concepts such as lead scoring, attribution, and marketing automation.
  • Experience supporting field marketing or event-driven pipeline generation.
  • Exposure to data-driven outreach experimentation or A/B testing.
