Production Support Engineer / Application Support Engineer

Location: Newark, CA  (Local Only)

Job Description

We are seeking a Production Support Engineer with strong application support experience to join a fast-paced enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, writing complex SQL queries, and supporting business-critical applications.

This role requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable working across application support, backend technologies, and database troubleshooting while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Provide L1–L3 support for enterprise applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate data and application issues using advanced SQL queries.
  • Read, understand, and perform minor backend code modifications when necessary.
  • Collaborate with development teams, business users, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor application health and support ongoing operational activities.
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation.
  • Maintain documentation related to incidents, resolutions, and support processes.
Required Skills
  • Strong experience in Application Support or Production Support environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write and troubleshoot complex queries.
  • Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of joins, indexing, query execution, and performance tuning fundamentals.
  • Backend development experience with:
    • .NET / C# (preferred)
    • Java or Python
  • Experience troubleshooting production applications and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting ERP or Supply Chain applications.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Jira or similar ticketing tools.
  • Familiarity with Splunk, Grafana, and application monitoring tools.
  • Experience with MySQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse.
