Job description

Wieland Electric is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Support Engineer to provide technical support and application expertise for our electrical connector, cable assembly, terminal blocks, and installation products . This role works closely with customers, distributors, independent rep firms, and internal sales teams to understand application requirements, recommend solutions, troubleshoot issues, and support customized applications. The ideal candidate has experience with electrical connectivity and installation applications , particularly commercial/residential and building applications. Experience with industrial or machine applications is a plus. This role will be initially remote and transition to a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide telephone, web meeting, and email technical support to employees, independent rep firms, distributors, and customers.
  • Support product selection and application of connectors, cable assemblies, terminal blocks, and other electrical connection products.
  • Review customer requirements, drawings, specifications, and applications to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and support applications based on customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to existing product lines.
  • Support applications across commercial/residential, building, lighting, modular construction, or EV charging markets. General industrial/machinery applications a bonus.
  • Create application notes, how-to guides, technical documentation, example applications, videos, and trade show demonstrations.
  • Participate in and conduct technical training for employees, reps, distributors, and customers.
  • Maintain accurate support records in CRM and collaborate with Sales and Product Management.
  • Travel up to 15% for customer support, training, and trade shows.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. for product demonstrations and trade show setup.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, CET, or relevant technical experience.
  • 3-5 years in technical product/application support
Hands-on experience with
  • Electrical connection products, e. g. connectors, terminal blocks and pre-assembled connector harnesses.
  • Application knowledge in commercial/residential wiring, EV charging, or general Industrial machinery.
  • Reading electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience with wire harness or cable assembly design/manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Experience with industrial or machine electrical applications is a plus.
  • Understanding of UL, CSA, CEC, and NEC standards is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with REVIT, ePlan, or BIM (building information modeling) software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to translate application requirements into practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • English required; Spanish or German is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel by automobile, train, or airplane.
