Job Summary
The Assistant Director, Event Management plans and supports a variety of events while overseeing scheduling, billing, vendor coordination, staff supervision, and event logistics. This role partners with clients and stakeholders to deliver successful events, maintain operational efficiency, and provide exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events for internal and external clients.
  • Provide on-site event support and manage event logistics from start to finish.
  • Oversee scheduling, reservations, billing, invoicing, and budget tracking.
  • Maintain event policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Resolve event-related issues and ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal service partners to support event execution.
  • Utilize event management software and technology to streamline operations.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate support staff and student employees.
  • Conduct audits of scheduling and billing activities and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor event outcomes and provide post-event feedback and reporting.
  • Collaborate on departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support evening and weekend events as required.

Years of Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in event management, hospitality, venue operations, conference services, or a related field.
  • Experience with financial administration, budgeting, billing, and invoicing preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
