Part-Time Fund Development Manager

MOSES (Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength)
Detroit, MI (Hybrid) | Part-Time (20–25 hours/week)
About MOSES
MOSES is a faith-rooted, congregation-centered community organizing network building people power. For over two decades, we have developed grassroots leaders, strengthened civic participation, and advanced policies that promote racial, economic, and health justice.

We organize congregations and community leaders across Metro Detroit, and other regions to build long-term power rooted in relationships, leadership development, and public action.
We are seeking a strategic, relational, and systems-minded Part-Time Fund Development Manager to help strengthen and grow our revenue infrastructure to sustain our 2026–2028 strategic vision.
Position Overview
The Fund Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to implement and expand MOSES’ fundraising strategy, manage grants, support individual donor cultivation, and help build long-term sustainability of MOSES (c3).
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in mission-driven environments, understands nonprofit revenue systems, and values faith-based organizing and racial justice work.
Key Responsibilities

Grant Management & Institutional Funding
  • Research and identify prospective foundation and institutional funders
  • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals and reports
  • Maintain a grant calendar with deadlines and deliverables
  • Coordinate with program staff to gather outcomes, stories, and data
  • Ensure compliance with c3/c4 funding restrictions
Individual & Congregational Giving
  • Support the development of the annual fundraising plan
  • Coordinate donor cultivation strategies and follow-up systems
  • Assist with major donor tracking and engagement
  • Strengthen congregational giving systems and sponsorship strategies
  • Support planning for fundraising events (e.g., annual breakfast, public events
Systems & Infrastructure
  • Maintain donor database and gift tracking systems
  • Develop dashboards to track revenue goals and projections
  • Support donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to ensure reconciliation and reporting alignment
Strategic Development Support
  • Assist the Executive Director with funder communications and relationship mapping
  • Help build multi-year funding strategies aligned with the 2026–2028 strategic plan
  • Prepare board-ready fundraising reports and summaries
  • Support board engagement in development activities
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development
  • Proven experience writing successful grant proposals
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
  • Commitment to racial justice, faith-based organizing, and community power-building
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience working with faith communities or organizing networks is preferred
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Comfort working with boards and executive leadership
