Description:
The Simulation Coordinator Lead serves as the operational and educational lead for simulation activities within the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of simulation-based learning experiences that support student achievement of course outcomes, clinical judgment development, and program learning objectives.
The Simulation Coordinator collaborates with theory, laboratory, and clinical faculty to ensure simulation experiences are standardized, evidence-based, and aligned with accreditation, regulatory, and nursing education standards. This individual oversees simulation operations, faculty development, simulation scheduling, and simulation equipment while supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives throughout the program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Simulation Program Management
โขOversee the daily operations of the simulation program and simulation laboratory.
โขDevelop, coordinate, and maintain simulation activities across all ASN cohorts.
โขEnsure simulation experiences align with course outcomes, program outcomes, and NCLEX preparation.
โขMaintain simulation standards consistent with best practices in nursing education.
โขCoordinate simulation utilization to maximize student learning opportunities.
โขMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of simulation activities and recommend improvements.
Simulation Scheduling
โขDevelop and maintain the master simulation schedule for all ASN cohorts.
โขCoordinate student simulation assignments, remediation sessions, and evaluation activities.
โขCollaborate with faculty to ensure simulation experiences are scheduled appropriately throughout each semester.
โขCommunicate simulation schedules and updates to faculty, staff, and students.
โขCoordinate room assignments, equipment availability, and simulation resources.
Simulation Scenario Development
โขCollaborate with faculty to develop, revise, and standardize simulation scenarios.
โขEnsure simulation activities reflect current evidence-based practice and course objectives.
โขMaintain a library of simulation scenarios, evaluation tools, and debriefing resources.
โขAssist faculty in integrating simulation throughout the curriculum.
โขReview simulation outcomes and student performance data to support curricular improvements.
Faculty Support and Development
โขTrain and support faculty in simulation facilitation, evaluation, and debriefing techniques.
โขServe as a resource for faculty regarding simulation best practices and educational technology.
โขAssist with faculty onboarding related to simulation expectations and procedures.
โขCoordinate faculty development activities related to simulation and clinical judgment evaluation.
โขPromote consistency in simulation implementation and student assessment.
Simulation Equipment and Laboratory Oversight
โขMaintain simulation equipment, mannequins, audiovisual systems, and laboratory resources.
โขCoordinate maintenance, repairs, and replacement of simulation equipment.
โขMonitor simulation inventory and submit requests for supplies and equipment purchases.
โขEnsure simulation spaces remain organized, functional, and compliant with safety standards.
โขOversee simulation setup, operation, and breakdown for scheduled activities.
Student Evaluation and Remediation
โขSupport simulation-based student evaluations and competency assessments.
โขAssist with remediation planning for students requiring additional support.
โขEnsure simulation evaluation tools are implemented consistently across faculty.
โขMonitor student participation and completion of simulation requirements.
โขAssist with summative and formative simulation assessments as assigned.
Clinical and Program Support
โขConduct clinical site visits as assigned to support alignment between simulation and clinical education.
โขCollaborate with clinical faculty to identify opportunities for simulation integration and remediation.
โขParticipate in residency activities, student orientations, and program events.
โขSupport special projects related to clinical education and student success initiatives.
Quality Improvement and Accreditation
โขParticipate in program assessment, accreditation preparation, and regulatory compliance activities.
โขCollect and analyze simulation utilization and outcome data.
โขAssist with annual program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
โขMaintain records and documentation required for accreditation and regulatory review.
โขParticipate in simulation, curriculum, and clinical committees.
Requirements:
Required
โขCurrent, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
โขBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
โขMinimum of three years of recent clinical nursing experience.
โขPrevious experience in nursing education, simulation, clinical instruction, or laboratory instruction.
โขStrong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
โขExperience working with educational technology and simulation equipment.
Preferred
โขCertified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or willingness to obtain certification.
โขExperience coordinating simulation programs in a nursing education setting.
โขExperience with pre-licensure nursing education.
โขKnowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements related to nursing education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

โขStrong project management and organizational skills.
โขAbility to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners.

โขAbility to demonstrate nursing procedures and operate simulation technology.
Work Schedule
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and travel commitments based on simulation schedules, residency activities, faculty development programs, and clinical support needs.
