Job description

Role Descriptions & Responsibilities
The SIMULIA IPS Infrastructure, Energy and Materials team specializes in the development of industry process digital solutions for infrastructure, energy & materials industry including chemicals, specialty materials, and polymer manufacturing, using Dassault Systรจmes virtual twin technologies.
As an intern on this team, you will work with experienced engineers with broad industry knowledge, to enable workflows to be applied on new industrial use scenarios, develop first of a kind solution and contribute to the creation of product presentations and demonstrations. This internship focuses on polymer material characterization and virtual testing workflows, with emphasis on material model calibration and the creation of high quality go-to-market (GTM) material.
โ€ข Implement end-to-end polymer material characterization workflows, from physical test data to simulation-ready material models using the SIMULIA Material Calibration App and Abaqus.
โ€ข Support geometry preparation workflows on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform: import of CAD geometries typical for materials and chemistry customers, followed by cleanup, simplification, and meshing for simulation (with active team support).
โ€ข Participate in the creation of polymer material testing workflows on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform leveraging SIMULIA and BIOVIA capabilities.
โ€ข Working as part of the SIMULIA IPS Infrastructure, Energy and Materials team.
โ€ข Create GTM material using representative polymer models to demonstrate solutions to industry problems focusing on business value for target customers.
โ€ข Support customer engagements related to newly enabled polymer simulation workflows.
Qualifications
โ€ข Currently enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Engineering
โ€ข Strong background in materials engineering, polymer mechanics, and constitutive modeling (hyper elasticity, viscoelasticity, creep)
โ€ข Familiarity with physical material testing methods such as tensile testing, DMA, and rheometric; laboratory experience is a plus
โ€ข Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), ideally with Abaqus or comparable tools
โ€ข Proficiency with Python for data processing and workflow automation
โ€ข Familiarity with industry standards for polymer testing (e.g., ISO 527, ASTM D638, ISO 6721) is a plus
โ€ข Basic familiarity with CAD geometry handling and meshing concepts is a plus
โ€ข Ability to take direction and guidance from others in a positive manner
โ€ข Ability to adapt and develop best practices and navigate around obstacles creatively
โ€ข Possesses strong English communication skills
โ€ข Possesses strong presentation and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical results to both engineering and business audiences

Salary Pay Transparency
Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $22 and $40 per hour.
