Job description

Position Title: TED Program Assistant
Department: Auxiliary Programs
Reports To: Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs; TED Program Coordinator
Status: Part Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. (minimum)
About Trinity Valley School:
Founded in 1959 and named for the Trinity River that flows nearby, Trinity Valley School is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory school serving more than 1,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 on a 75-acre campus in Fort Worth, Texas. Families choose TVS for its deep commitment to developing curious minds and lifelong learners, as well as for its strong sense of community. TVS provides extraordinary opportunities for students to grow in academics, athletics, visual and performing arts, outdoor experiential education, and global education-guided by our motto, Per Aspera ad Astra (Through Difficulty to the Stars!).
Introduction to the Role:
Every afternoon, Trinity Valley School continues to support TVS families by providing exceptional care in the same warm, intentional environment students experience throughout the school day. As a TED Program Assistant, you are that trusted presence-the person who greets students and parents with energy and enthusiasm, helps them complete their homework, and creates a safe, joyful space where they can play, create, and grow. You make it possible for families to reclaim quality time together, knowing their children are in capable, caring hands.
Who You Are
You are a dynamic, responsible individual who genuinely loves being around elementary-aged children. You understand that safety comes first-always-and you maintain constant, attentive supervision without sacrificing the joy and freedom that make after-school time special. You know how to hold structure and flexibility in balance, creating an environment where children feel both secure and free to explore.
You are patient, warm, and observant, attuned to the needs of each child in your care. You treat every student with dignity and respect, and you know how to redirect behavior with calm, approved techniques that preserve a child's sense of self-worth. You are a team player who communicates openly with colleagues and coordinators, maintains confidentiality, and shows up consistently-because the families who depend on this program are counting on you.
What You Will Do
Your afternoons will be full of energy, purpose, and meaningful connection. You will provide constant visual supervision to ensure a safe and healthy environment for every child in the program. You will plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities that strike the right balance between free-choice exploration and organized engagement-from outside free play and art to drama, math, science, and gross motor activities.
You will know the name and age of every child in your care, building the kind of genuine relationships that help students feel seen and valued. You will support students as they work through homework and assignments, helping them arrive home with their schoolwork complete so families can enjoy their evenings together. You will set up and maintain clean, organized activity areas, engaging students in the process of caring for their shared spaces.
You will work alongside the TED Program Coordinator to manage attendance accurately, communicate incidents promptly, and uphold the policies and procedures that keep the program running smoothly. During the summer months, you may have the opportunity to extend your hours through XPLORE: Summer at TVS, bringing the same care and creativity to a new season of learning.
Your Impact
The TED Program Assistant plays a quiet but profound role in the lives of TVS families. By providing a safe, structured, and joyful after-school experience, you give families the peace of mind to be fully present at work-knowing their children are thriving. When students complete their assignments during TED, families reclaim their evenings for connection, rest, and quality time together. Your consistency, warmth, and dedication ripple far beyond the program walls, strengthening the trust that families place in Trinity Valley School every single day.
What You'll Need
  • At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience caring for elementary-aged children
  • Consistent availability Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. during the academic year (August - May)
  • Keen observation and listening skills, especially regarding children's needs
  • Ability to assist in emergency procedures
  • Ability to work additional childcare days throughout the academic year
  • Opportunity to work additional hours during XPLORE: Summer at TVS (May - August)
