Position Summary
The Study Abroad Student Assistant is responsible for the Study Abroad social media and marketing design. On occasion, the Study Abroad Student Assistant covers the UIW Study Abroad office taking messages and scheduling advising appointments with students. The Study Abroad Student Assistant will report to the Study Abroad and Exchange Coordinator.
This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program.
Essential Functions
- Develop print marketing materials;
- Post to social media pages regularly;
- Help edit the UIW Study Abroad website;
- Cover office when Study Abroad Coordinator is away;
- Provide excellent customer service to students or guests who visit the office;
- Maintain a welcoming and positive environment;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Customer service skills;
- Ability to organize multiple projects at once;
- Familiarity with Microsoft OneDrive and Outlook Email;
- Demonstrate writing, editing, design, photography, video, etc. skills;
- Ability to utilize Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University
Required Education
- Current full-time UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Required Work Experience
No required work experience necessary, training is available.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graphic Design and Communications majors;
- Previous high school or college graphic design and/or public relations experience (newspaper, yearbook, magazine, website, social media, etc.)
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.
Work Hours
- Work hours are flexible (8:00a.m.-6:00p.m., M-F) and are dependent on student's academic and extracurricular schedules;
- 20 hours per week
Physical Demands
Ability to navigate UIW campus and lift no more than 20 lbs.
