Job Description

Position Summary:

This individual is responsible for production scheduling, purchasing production materials, MRP activities, shipping, receiving and inventory control.  This position will have 3 direct reports - Shipping Lead, Production Scheduler, and Inventory Specialist.  The Production Planning Manager reports directly to the facility Plant Manager. 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports and assists with all Plant Safety Programs.
  • Provides leadership, training, coaching and guidance to team
  • Work daily with the Production Scheduler, Department Managers and Corporate Customer Service to optimize production output and meet customer delivery dates. 
  • Serve as Plant contact for Corporate Customer Service and Sales and Operational Planning teams
  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system (MRP)
  • Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis, and maintain system processes, including the delivery of daily and monthly status reports to appropriate parties  
  • Conduct daily systems analytics to maximize effectiveness and troubleshoot problems
  • Directs, manages, and monitors production, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and materials processes.
  • Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
  • Works with purchasing department and suppliers to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and other consumables.
  • Manages and monitors storage of production consumables and finished goods.
  • Oversees shipping, receiving and 3PL functions related to material and finished goods.
  • Performs system adjustments on damaged, obsolete or variance inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
  • Establishes procedures for conducting quarterly physical inventories
  • Supports Plant Manager and Financial Analyst in preparation of annual budget.
  • Little to no travel required
  • Month end activities require active participation, dates may fall on weekends and holidays.  Position may require some evening participation outside of traditional business hours.   

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Planning or Materials Management role required   
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • Prior experience with BAAN software highly preferred
  • Experience in an industrial environment preferred
  • Proven analytical abilities
  • Practical experience generating process documentation and reports
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Proven development of innovative and impactful systems solutions
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
