Responsibilities
Reporting to the Group President, Power Solutions Group, the Senior Director of Module Development will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of high-power modules for onsemi's power products. Flawless execution is a core value of the engineering organization, and the Senior Director of Module Development will lead the company in defining and delivering to the roadmap to fulfill business objectives. This role is instrumental in delivering high quality products to the market ahead of the competition by designing high power modules for multiple markets including automotive, industrial and AI.
  • The Senior Director of Module Development will work closely with customers, and cross-functionally with all engineering and product management teams while ensuring complete alignment with the manufacturing teams. This role demands a deep understanding of module development using power discretes, material science, packaging architectures, electromechanical and thermal modeling, simulation and design for manufacturing. This leader will work closely with the technical leadership in onsemi's Business Groups to create technology and module roadmaps supporting power system product roadmaps.
  • Business performance mandates a leader capable of driving down cost while meeting technical product requirements. Cost optimization is essential where this leader will perform tradeoffs during the design cycle, across material selection, process flow and backend assembly.
  • In addition to technical leadership, the role is responsible for defining and delivering a market-leading roadmap through innovation. The role involves direct customer engagement and requires the ability to understand and anticipate or drive market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer demands.
  • The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional leadership skills, capable of uniting global teams and driving them towards common goals. They will be expected to instill a culture of excellence and implement best-in-class engineering practices. This role is integral to the company's mission of delivering cutting-edge products that meet and exceed customer expectations, ensuring sustained growth and innovation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Development of multiple high power modules including automotive power boxes for traction inverters, EV charging infrastructure, solar inverters and AI.
  • Management of product lifecycles from product definition to manufacturing release
  • Creating best-in-class modeling and simulation capabilities of new module designs to reduce development time and improve product performance
  • Lead teams to create Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for module development
  • Work with onsemi's Operations team from proof-of-concept to volume manufacturing to achieve high quality and high yield products
  • Work with onsemi's Operation team to evaluate design tradeoffs to establish the entitlement by module category to reduce cost and optimize performance
  • Leading activities with external contract manufacturing including joint development agreements
  • Support of failure analysis process (root cause through containment and corrective action implementation)
  • Design products capable of achieving first pass success on all product quality requirements
  • Interpreting product and technology qualification specifications (including JEDEC compliant and AEC-Q100 automotive qualifications) and their impact on module design
  • Methods for creating and managing effective Design of Experiment (DOE) with statistical analysis
  • Design support to reduce the effects of frontend backend interaction in product qualification failures
  • Collaboration in manufacturing operations including supply chain set up and integration, product ramp up, capacity planning, yield management, cost model development and price negotiations

Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or similar. Ph.D preferred
  • Successful R&D track record and project management skills
  • Automotive industry knowledge and experience working at tier-1 supporting OEM designs of high voltage power systems
  • Development and delivery of modules for diverse applications including, but not limited to automobile and solar
  • Develop, maintain and execute technology and product roadmaps for diverse product portfolios
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering impact for the business through developing world-class products.
  • Demonstrated the ability to build constructive and effective relationships with other functions and across business lines.
