Description
Provides advanced technical support by performing installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related software/hardware. Activities include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up steps. Screens, refers, and diagnoses internal inquiries and work requests as they relate to maintenance of personal computers utilizing experience and understanding of the Town's MIS environment. Also maintains and supports the Town's WAN/LAN and telecommunication systems. Ensures that approved MIS policies, standards, and procedures are followed.
Examples of Duties
• Provides Information Systems support for networked computer systems, computerized telephone systems.
• Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to PC hardware and software systems.
• Maintains, repairs, and upgrades the Town's Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) systems.
• Implements new networking tools to expand or improve the Town's LAN and WAN.
• Maintains and troubleshoots Town facility telephone systems (PBX).
• Performs special assignment, research, or other related duties and tasks as requested, required, or instructed.
• Assists Network Technicians in troubleshooting of complex systems and software
• Trains Network Technicians on Town applications and systems.
• Must be willing to be on-call for emergency situations.
• Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety policies and procedures.
• Informs MIS Manager of all work activities.
• Performs other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
• Four (4) or more years of computer hardware and software operation and application work experience is required; as well as one (1) year of network exposure.
• Must have experience with Exchange Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Windows XP and 7, Windows Server, and Microsoft Office.

• Telecommunications knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation skills are required.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and stress; meet deadlines; plan, organize and prioritize multiple work assignments; follow oral and written directives; and work effectively and efficiently with the general public and co-workers and maintain a pleasant personality at all times.
• Must operate various office equipment, with good hand to eye coordination for data entry and exercise good judgment to make sound decisions.
