About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Manager to lead and oversee complex insurance litigation matters across our organization. This role serves as a key advisor to Claims Leadership and Legal, managing litigation strategy, outside counsel relationships, legal spend, and high-exposure claims from inception through resolution.

The ideal candidate will possess both strong legal acumen and insurance industry expertise, with the ability to balance risk management, operational efficiency, and favorable claim outcomes.

What You'll Do

Litigation Leadership

  • Manage complex litigation involving serious bodily injury, property damage, coverage disputes, questionable liability, and other high-exposure matters.
  • Oversee litigation strategy, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
  • Evaluate liability, damages, and exposure to develop well-supported settlement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Claims Leadership, Legal, and outside counsel to ensure effective representation and cost control.
  • Review and approve litigation budgets, settlement authority requests, and trial strategies.
  • Document litigation evaluations, investigations, settlement decisions, and case strategies.

Counsel Management

  • Select, monitor, and evaluate defense and coverage counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Conduct litigation file audits and monitor counsel performance to ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain outside counsel guidelines and billing practices.
  • Build and maintain a network of high-performing legal partners nationwide.

Strategic Claims and Legal Support

  • Provide guidance to adjusters and claims leaders on complex injury evaluations, medical causation issues, and negotiation strategies.
  • Review medical records, expert opinions, and legal documentation to assess claim value and litigation exposure.
  • Assist with policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and claim resolution strategies.
  • Identify litigation trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.

Process Improvement & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement best practices for litigation management and legal spend oversight.
  • Analyze litigation outcomes and trends to identify risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Support training initiatives for claims professionals and leadership teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Florida Resident Adjuster's License.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience within insurance claims, litigation management, corporate legal departments, or litigation law firms.
  • Experience managing complex, high-severity claim and litigation exposures.
  • Strong understanding of insurance coverage, defense litigation, and civil litigation procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage outside counsel and litigation budgets.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Legal Manager (CLM), Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP), or similar professional designation.
  • Experience working within property and casualty insurance environments.
  • Knowledge of multi-state insurance regulations and litigation practices.
