Litigation Legal Assistant

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to $75,000 + Excellent Benefits

Position Summary

A growing law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to provide high-level support to partner-level attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. This role requires a highly organized professional who can manage multiple matters simultaneously, maintain strict court deadlines, and deliver high-quality legal documentation and administrative support.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, edit, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence

• Electronically file documents in Illinois state courts, appellate courts, and federal courts while ensuring compliance with all court rules and deadlines

• Maintain litigation calendars and docket critical court deadlines, including scheduling orders and briefing schedules

• Assist with discovery, document production, and preparation of pleading and discovery templates

• Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and attorney/client meetings

• Assist with trial preparation, including organizing trial materials and exhibit binders

• Maintain and organize electronic case files and client records

• Review and finalize attorney time entries

• Provide administrative support including calendar management, scheduling, and routine correspondence

• Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and vendors

• Manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of experience as a litigation legal assistant in a law firm environment

• Working knowledge of Illinois state and federal court filing rules and procedures

• Experience with electronic filing systems across multiple jurisdictions

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems

• Excellent grammar, proofreading skills, and attention to detail

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
