Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join a nationally recognized Labor & Employment practice in Columbus. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking sophisticated employment litigation work within a premier national law firm while maintaining a more predictable schedule and strong work-life balance.

This position is a non-partnership track role designed for attorneys who want to focus on high-quality legal work without business development expectations. The practice includes primarily employment litigation matters, with some exposure to both public and private sector traditional labor work.

Responsibilities
  • Handle employment litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation filings
  • Conduct legal research and analyze employment law issues
  • Manage discovery and support all phases of litigation
  • Assist with traditional labor matters involving both public and private sector employers
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on sophisticated workplace matters
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding strategy, case developments, and legal issues
  • Work closely with partners and counsel on complex labor and employment matters
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Employment experience
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
  • J.D. required
  • Active Ohio Bar admission required
