Position Concept
The Learning & Development Specialist plays a critical role in advancing Eckerd Connects' mission by designing, developing, and delivering engaging, high impact learning experiences that support staff performance and organizational effectiveness. This role blends instructional design expertise with an internal consulting mindset, partnering with leaders and subject matter experts to assess needs, identify performance gaps, and recommend thoughtful solutions.
This individual will take primary ownership of designing interactive online learning and supporting select facilitation efforts, helping ensure learning experiences are practical, engaging, and aligned with the real needs of frontline staff and supervisors.
Learning Design, Development & Delivery
  • Design and develop highly interactive and engaging learning experiences, with a primary focus on asynchronous online learning hosted in the organization's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate expertise into learner centered, performance focused content.
  • Apply adult learning principles and learning experience design best practices to ensure content goes beyond passive "click through" experiences.
  • Organize, upload, and maintain learning content within the LMS, ensuring accuracy and usability.
  • Facilitate selected virtual and in person learning sessions as needed.
  • Support learning programs through strong presence, clear communication, and learner centered facilitation techniques.
  • Adapt facilitation approaches to meet the needs of diverse learner groups

Performance Consulting, Partnership & Project Management
  • Partner with frontline managers and supervisors to understand performance challenges and learning needs.
  • Analyze performance gaps and recommend appropriate solutions, including training, job aids, process changes, or other interventions.
  • Manage assigned learning projects from concept through completion, balancing multiple priorities.
  • Coordinate timelines, feedback, and approvals with internal partners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of directly related experience in training or learning management systems (LMS). Demonstrated experience designing engaging online learning experiences. Experience facilitating virtual and/or in person learning sessions.
  • Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.

Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and common workplace tools, including Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and group facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively partner with leaders, frontline staff, and subject matter experts.
  • Self-motivated, with strong initiative, follow-through, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development, performance-based learning approaches, and training methodologies.
  • Ability to design engaging, learner-centered content that drives application and performance outcomes.
