Job description

Meridian College is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused Financial Aid Assistant to help students navigate the financial aid process. This role focuses primarily on assisting prospective and current students with FAFSA completion, collecting required documentation, and ensuring financial aid files are complete for processing.

The Financial Aid Assistant plays an important role in helping students access funding for their education while maintaining compliance with federal and institutional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist prospective and current students in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Follow up with students to obtain required documentation needed to complete financial aid files
  • Track and collect financial aid documents such as tax returns, verification forms, and supporting materials
  • Communicate regularly with students to ensure financial aid applications are completed accurately and on time
  • Provide guidance on financial aid processes and next steps for funding their education
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with federal and institutional regulations
  • Coordinate with the Financial Aid team and campus leadership to ensure timely processing of aid applications
  • Perform data entry and maintain organized records of student files
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to financial aid processing
  • Provide excellent customer service to students in person, by phone, and by email
  • The role supports the broader financial aid process described in the Financial Aid department’s responsibilities, including assisting with documentation and eligibility verification.

  • Associate degree preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
