Job description

About Numeral:
Numeral is transforming how taxes get done. Digital businesses are currently bogged down by a painful web of regulations across 47 states and 70+ countries. We're eliminating this burden so teams can focus on their core mission.
We're the largest and fastest-growing AI-native tax solution. Started in 2023, Numeral has raised over $57M from Benchmark, Mayfield, Y-Combinator, and many others. We now serve over 3,000 paying customers and have more than tripled our revenue every year in our history.
About the role:
We are hiring an International Tax Filing Manager to help define, scale, and operationalize Numeral's global tax filing capabilities. This role is not responsible for preparing or submitting tax returns. Instead, you will:
  • Identify and document tax filing requirements
  • Translate tax rules into system and workflow requirements
  • Triage complex or non-standard filing issues
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Filings, and Sales to build scalable solutions

This is a tax + systems + problem-solving role, ideal for someone who enjoys building structure and clarity in complex regulatory environments.
What You'll Do
Tax Requirements & Coverage
  • Identify and document registration, transfer and filing requirements across U.S. and international jurisdictions for indirect tax.
  • Define deadlines, formats, data dependencies, validations, and exceptions needed to support compliant filings.
  • Maintain and evolve internal requirements documentation as regulations change.

Issue Triage & Escalation
  • Act as an escalation point for complex or edge-case filing scenarios.
  • Diagnose issues raised by Operating Teams, Product, or Sales and determine resolution paths.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors when clarification is required.

Product & Engineering Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to design and improve filing workflows and automation.
  • Translate tax requirements into clear inputs for system logic, data models, and product features.
  • Review and test new filing capabilities from a tax-requirements perspective.

Scaling & Process Improvement
  • Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies in current filing coverage and workflows.
  • Propose scalable, system-driven solutions that reduce manual intervention.
What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance, tax operations, or tax advisory with U.S. and international exposure.
  • Strong understanding of tax filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate tax rules into operational or technical requirements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, or operations teams.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure from incomplete information.
  • Startup mindset: Not scared of ambiguity and hungry for rapid growth
  • Intensity & Ownership: This is not a 9-5 - we're scaling rapidly and have a massive opportunity ahead of us.
  • Customer Obsession: You deeply care about the user experience and solving their problems
Even better:
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or other technology-driven environments.
  • Background in tax automation, systems design, or workflow tooling.
  • Familiarity working with external tax advisors or local country specialists.
What we offer:
  • Competitive salary and equity - you'll share directly in the company's success
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Wellness perks like Headspace and the Peloton One App
  • 401(k) to help you build long-term financial security
  • Lunch and snacks when you're in the office
  • Regular team offsites and company events as we grow
  • A culture built on ownership - your work matters and people will see it!
