Job description

Job Title: Legal Clerk

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Clerk to support a growing immigration law team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role begins as a 13-week contract with strong potential for conversion to a full-time position based on attendance, performance, and overall fit with the team. The position focuses on mail processing, document organization, and administrative support while offering opportunities to learn additional responsibilities and grow into a lead role over time.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, open, and process high volumes of incoming mail accurately and efficiently.
  • Organize, alphabetize, and file client case documents in accordance with established filing systems.
  • Identify case types and ensure documents route correctly within the case management process.
  • Update tracking sheets and records within the case management system and Microsoft Excel.
  • Provide general administrative support to the immigration law team, including data entry and document preparation.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency in all tasks while working in a repetitive, fast-paced environment.
  • Work in both the mailroom and main operations area as needed to support daily workflow.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and respect toward leadership and teammates in all interactions.
  • Respond openly to feedback and incorporate guidance into daily work practices.
  • Maintain strong attendance, reliability, and punctuality to support team operations.
  • Participate in cross-training on multiple job functions to provide flexible support across the team.
  • Adhere to quality standards and organizational procedures for handling sensitive legal documents.

The pace is fast and the tasks are repetitive, requiring sustained focus and accuracy. The dress code is business casual, with jeans permitted on Fridays for Casual Friday. The culture emphasizes professionalism, respect, and teamwork, with several group lunches and activities as well as quarterly team outings. The position starts as a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time conversion and growth into a lead role for high-performing, reliable team members.
