Position Overview:

Bread Alone Dispatch Supervisors have a unique impact on our business as they serve a critical supervisory function for our Drivers and vehicle fleet, while managing key components of our distribution effort. Dispatch Supervisors are experienced problem solvers, adept at handling new challenges with actionable solutions. This role requires effective communication and the ability to navigate difficulties directly and proactively. This role also requires exceptional levels of reliability and a customer-focused approach. Dispatch Supervisors report to the Company's Distribution Manager.


Dispatch Supervisors facilitate deliveries, support and supervise our Drivers in the field, and maintain our distribution equipment and systems. Their daily functions include confirmation of care of delivery vans and trucks by drivers, support of timely delivery of product, route management, driver sheet and route material review, driver handheld and tablet support, review of daily paperwork, and organized truck offload. Dispatch supervisors work overnight hours, typically 10:00 pm to 8:30 am based in our Lake Katrine Bakery, with periodic field work in a physically demanding environment that requires the ability to self-organize and self-motivate. Dispatch Supervisors will periodically cover delivery routes as scheduled or substitute drivers and are expected to have and maintain a professional demeanor and an excellent driving record.


Hours: This is a full-time position--- Tuesday to Friday 10:30pm - 9:00am or Friday to Monday 10:30pm - 9:00am 


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Review delivery paperwork and release Drivers and their loads based on standard operating procedures
  • Support and provide aid to Drivers during their daily delivery routes, both as a result of routine and emergency issues that arise. This includes arranging mechanical and tow services, accident support, and in-field support when needed
  • Provide Driver coverage when scheduled Drivers are unavailable or when unscheduled delivery needs arise
  • Enforce and follow correct procedures for safe and secure loading and unloading of trucks
  • Monitor and review fleet and Driver information collected by our on-board data systems (currently Samsara).
  • Review and management of all required paperwork following the return of driver from their routes
  • Provide customer service support when Customer Service team is unavailable (typically distributor relationships)
  • Support Drivers in managing any delivery errors or product shortages
  • Review post-route maintenance of cargo and cab areas of delivery vehicles by drivers according to Bread Alone guidelines
  • Enforce consistent and correct usage of nightly driver checklist
  • Ensure fuel and DEF levels in vehicles are sufficient according to company policy following the return of vehicles from their daily routes
  • Provide at least six hours of notice if unable to work a scheduled shift
  • Expert knowledge of our telemetric fleet tracking and maintenance software
  • Additional tasks, both physical and supervisory, related to distribution and warehousing during periods of down-time

Job Requirements:

  • Able to sit and drive for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
  • Active driver's license and clean driving record-DRIVING IS POTENTIALLY REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE
  • Able to to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
  • Able to work outside with frequent exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to communicate with precision both written and verbal
  • Comfortable with routinely shifting tasks
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and balance multiple time sensitive tasks simultaneously
  • Able to learn and operate computer applications or other automated systems necessary to perform daily tasks
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
  • Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety a well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt $22.75 - $30.50 per hour
