Job description

Minneapolis Glass in Brooklyn Park, MN is hiring a hands-on Transportation Supervisor to join our Glass Operations Team. Are you ready to lead our delivery operations team? Do you have experience managing transportation schedules, optimizing delivery routes and  overseeing a fleet to ensure safe, efficient and reliable service to customers? This supervisory position earns a competitive union salary of $1,600 per week. This is a first shift operation with a predictable work schedule of 6:00am - 2:30pm. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

As a Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and developing 5-7 drivers to achieve strong safety, customer service and on-time delivery performance. As a supervisor, you will proactively engage in anticipating problems and finding solutions.

You are the go-to person for all transportation scheduling and will optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and productivity. You are accountable for managing the fleet of 15 CDL and non-CDL vehicles that includes vehicle preventative maintenance, repairs, and scheduling drivers for efficiency, safety, and compliance with all DOT regulations. 

Using our business processes and inventory / transportation management software, you will ensure product is received and loaded according to schedule and that customers receive their quality glass product on time via will-call or delivery on one of our trucks. You create a healthy and open work environment by being a role model and making sure our company vision and core values are lived. Communication is key to form strong relationships with customers, vendors, and your team. You are a champion of continuous improvement for Minneapolis Glass and will be sought out for your expertise.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates/Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, logistics or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse, or delivery operations.
  • 3 years of transportation scheduling, route planning or dispatch operations
  • Solid knowledge of DOT and transportation safety regulations.
  • Proficient with computers and inventory/transportation management software and systems including GPS.
  • Experience in managing vehicle maintenance programs and scheduling transportation.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the work, including the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
  • Current CDL or prior CDL driving experience preferred. Must have a valid license,
