Our seasonal staff plays an integral role in ensuring that our visitors enjoy our extraordinary places. With the change to warmer temperatures, we experience an influx of visitors of all ages and backgrounds who want to explore and be inspired by our properties. Sandy beaches, wooded trails, cultural gardens, historic homes, community supported agriculture—there are many ways for visitors to discover and explore The Trustees, and just as many opportunities for seasonal employees to make each visitor’s experience special.   

The Inn at Castle Hill is a boutique, 10 room bed & breakfast situated in the heart of the spectacular Crane Estate, a 2,100-acre property known for its iconic 59 room historic mansion (“The Great House”) and 4 miles of idyllic white sand beach (“Crane Beach”). The Inn gives guests the chance to reconnect with what’s really important in life. All ten rooms at the Inn are uniquely appointed, and many feature stunning views over the salt marshes and Atlantic Ocean.   

The Role:

As a Front Desk Services Staff, you will assist with all functions related to the day-to-day operations at the Inn at Castle Hill.  Day-to-day functions include, but are not limited to, checking guests in and out, taking reservations and being a host to the guests by providing all aspects of guest service. Candidates must have excellent communication skills.  This position will also support dining room services when necessary.  This position operates 8-24 hours per week, nights, weekends and holidays are required.  Shifts may vary depending on inn guest occupancy.     

Specifically, you’ll:

  • Check guests in and out  
  • Post all cash, credit card and other payment information in an accurate manner in our reservation system, RezStream  
  • Settling credit card transactions and handling end of day reports  
  • Answer telephones  
  • Respond to email inquiries in a professional manner  
  • Take reservations in accurate and efficient manner  
  • Serve food and beverage at meals, teas and functions  
  • Offer, prepare and serve cocktails, wine and beer to guests  
  • Help with guest requests as needed  
  • Assist with luggage handling – must be able to carry luggage up multiple flights of stairs  
  • Provide concierge services to guests – knowledge of surrounding area is essential   
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area 

This is a seasonal, non-exempt position working 8-24 hours/week reporting directly to the Innkeeper and Assistant Innkeeper.

What You’ll Need:

Skills and Experience:

  • Positive customer interaction skills  
  • Ability to learn computer processes and systems with onboarding training  
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry is preferred 
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds 
  • Must be able to comfortably walk up and down stairs (no elevators in the building) 
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required. 
  • Access to a personal vehicle for transportation. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment. 
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
