Job description

Description
We are currently recruiting a Seasonal Grounds & Guest Transportation Assistant to work with our Landscape & Conservation branch for the 2026 summer and fall season (June - October).
The Seasonal Grounds & Guest Transportation Assistant supports daily operations across The Arboretum by assisting with guest transportation, grounds support, deliveries, and general operational needs. This position plays an important role in providing a safe and welcoming guest experience while also supporting the maintenance and functionality of Arboretum operations.
This is a part-time (up to 30 hours per week), non-exempt, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $17.00. The schedule for this seasonal position will be 8:30am - 3:30pm, Saturday - Wednesday.
Job Responsibilities:
• Safely operate wagon tour vehicles throughout The Arboretum while navigating designated routes.
• Provide safe and efficient guest transportation by operating the electric tram along designated routes and to multiple drop-off locations.
• Assist with grounds support activities, including trash pick-up and maintaining cleanliness across various areas of The Arboretum.
• Deliver incoming packages, supplies, and materials to various buildings and departments throughout The Arboretum.
• Support operational and maintenance equipment activities as assigned, which may include:
o Operating tractors, mowers, and/or dump truck
o Supporting seasonal grounds projects
Qualifications:
• High school diploma/general education degree (GED), or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able and willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to follow directions and work well with others.
• Ability to independently perform job requirements in a reasonable amount of time.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds, walk frequently, bend, climb a ladder, stoop, dig, and raise arms above head.
• Must have a current valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Previous school bus driving experience a plus.
• Regular and timely attendance is essential.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
