Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

Create and maintain guest-driven hotels that exceed guest expectations in all areas. Provide an atmosphere that inspires the hotel team members to do their best. Oversee the quality process to ensure guest satisfaction through consistent delivery of both quality product and service in accordance with the hotels’ profitability goals while fulfilling the value requirements of the guest.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The Complex General Manager will be responsible for the oversight of operations for the Residence Inn Columbus Easton, Courtyard Columbus at Easton and the Aloft with an emphasis on sales, marketing, F&B, and overall quality and service with achievement of revenues, GOP and RevPar Index.
  • Responsible for the overall results from the development and execution of strategies that will support, strengthen and grow the hotel operations, as well as comply with company policies and standards.
  • Directly oversee the General Managers and all other Easton Marriott Area positions such as sales and marketing, human resources and engineering as well as indirectly supervise the property level staff members to meet and exceed the strategic goals.
  • Perform administrative duties including reading and writing reports. Critically review reports of occupancy, revenue, etc. Make judgments and implement changes to maximize profits and achieve budget. Supervise the development of and revision to the business plan, annual budget and annual and monthly forecasts, etc. for all three Easton Marriotts.
  • Interview, hire, supervise and counsel general managers and department managers in the efficient operation of their respective area(s). Meet with, develop and delegate improvement plans for operations and review performance of the management team.
  • Participate in community affairs and maintain a positive public image for the Easton hotels. Meet with potential and current clients and promote the Easton hotels.
  • Physically tour and visually inspect the hotels daily. Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness, and quality of product and service throughout the hotels.
  • Greet and maintain rapport with team members and customers, ensuring team members are in proper uniform. Periodically conduct room inspections.
  • Monitor the hotels’ safety program.
  • Oversee renovations from the perspective of hotel operations.
  • Assist with asset management and capital projects as assigned.
  • Travel to attend corporate meetings, sales trips, brand meetings, etc.
  • All of these activities should be directed toward achieving the goals outlined in the following Key Result Areas:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including mandatory participation in the MOD program.


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

  • Ability to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Through knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security, revenue management, safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation plans, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hotel law and the development of long-range planning.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure the accomplishment of goals. Able to set priorities, plan, organize, delegate, and control.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff – being persuasive, clear and to the point. Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate offices, and owners.
  • Ability to move throughout premises and visually inspect conditions including bending, stooping and reaching arms overhead.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to various sites on and off hotel property up to four miles per day and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to remain stationary and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four year college degree or equivalent education, (i.e., hotel business college.)
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience as General Manager including experience in all phases of hotel management, such as sales and marketing, revenue management, human resources, food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, maintenance, etc.
