Job description

Associate InnkeeperPosition Summary

Wedmore Place at The Williamsburg Winery is seeking reliable, versatile, and hospitality-focused team members to join our Inn-keeping team. This is a hands-on hospitality position where team members are expected to support all aspects of the guest experience and daily operation of the Inn.

Associate Innkeepers serve as hosts, guest-service professionals, concierges, housekeepers, breakfast attendants, laundry attendants, and ambassadors for Wedmore Place and The Williamsburg Winery. Rather than separating these responsibilities into individual positions, our Inn keeping team works together to take care of whatever our guests and the Inn need throughout each shift.

This position requires individuals who are comfortable moving between responsibilities and believe that exceptional hospitality means not walking past a problem and never saying, “That’s not my job.”

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome guests and provide warm, professional, and personalized hospitality
  • Manage guest check-in, check-out, reservations, payments, and hotel systems
  • Answer phones, texts, emails, and guest questions
  • Assist with luggage, guest requests, special occasions, late arrivals, and in-room needs
  • Serve as a concierge by recommending restaurants, attractions, transportation, and Williamsburg experiences
  • Educate guests about The Williamsburg Winery, wines, Wine Club, tastings, tours, dining, events, and property amenities
  • Clean and refresh guest rooms, including making beds, replacing linens, cleaning bathrooms, restocking amenities, and preparing rooms for arrival
  • Inspect guest rooms and common areas to ensure they meet property standards
  • Wash, dry, fold, organize, and restock hotel linens and supplies
  • Prepare, set up, serve, replenish, and clean up daily breakfast service
  • Maintain the lobby, hallways, breakfast areas, entrances, patios, and other guest spaces
  • Identify and address minor property or maintenance issues and promptly report larger concerns
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly, professionally, and with good judgment
  • Anticipate guest needs and look for opportunities to personalize and elevate each stay
  • Maintain knowledge of arriving, departing, and in-house guests throughout the shift
  • Perform additional Inn keeping and hospitality duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Previous hotel, hospitality, guest-service, housekeeping, or food-service experience preferred but not required
  • Must be willing and able to perform all Inn keeping responsibilities, including guest services, housekeeping, laundry, breakfast, and property care
  • Warm, friendly, professional, and confident interacting with guests
  • Comfortable using computers and learning hotel reservation and property-management systems
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills
  • Able to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and make sound decisions
  • Detail-oriented and able to recognize and address problems without waiting to be asked
  • Reliable, punctual, professional, and accountable
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Willing to learn about wine, The Williamsburg Winery, Wedmore Place, and the Williamsburg area
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for shifts lasting up to eight or more hours
  • Ability to regularly use stairs throughout the property
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move approximately 30–40 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, reaching, lifting, making beds, cleaning rooms, and moving laundry and supplies
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and move frequently throughout the property
Schedule Requirements
  • Full-time available
  • Must have flexible availability for mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be comfortable working independently during portions of a shift
  • Schedule may vary based on occupancy, guest needs, and business levels
Why Join Us?
  • Work at a unique boutique Inn located on the beautiful grounds of The Williamsburg Winery
  • Be part of creating memorable stays and experiences for guests visiting Williamsburg
  • Develop experience across multiple areas of hotel and hospitality operations
  • Learn about wine, guest experiences, and the broader Wessex Hundred and Williamsburg Winery Estate
  • Join a collaborative team where everyone contributes to the guest experience
  • Opportunities for additional responsibilities and professional growth
Compensation
  • Pay: $20/hr with opportunity for bonuses (wine club and reviews)
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience
  • Opportunities to earn additional incentives through Wine Club membership sign-ups
  • Additional employee benefits and privileges may apply based on employment status
